erratic weather
the heater navigating
our current climate
This is a haiku touching on the subject of climate change, which comes to it at a slant. As all of us learn to navigate new climate extremes, so do our supportive technologies. The heater almost takes on an anthropomorphic quality in this poem, as we see it struggling to adjust the indoor temperature to match the rapidly fluctuating temperature conditions in late winter. Where my family lives, the temperatures have been ranging from below freezing to 70 F within a day. One can't help but feel sympathy for the heater.
