on all fools day everyone
a bodhisattva
The turn of thought in this haiku is slightly opaque at first reading, but only because it poses a question which the reader must consider in order to arrive at the point of the poem: How (or why) is everyone a bodhisattva on April Fool’s Day?
I have been blessed in my lifetime to know more than one “holy fool.”
